Seat Assignments in Rural Department?

Currently my department doesn't have riding assignments. Not who sits in the seat but the job assigned to that sseat. I think it would be a good idea to require some accountability and eliminate freelancing as well as eliminate the possibility of four guys trying to do the sake job and no one establishing water supply, getting tools etc. I expect some pushback from older members. Any thoughts?

Officers seat #1 TIC and radio

Behind the officer seat #2 hydrant man and back up line

seat facing forward #3 interior attack

Seat 4 Interior attack line back up man

Seat #5 Break man takes supply line and puts into intake for engineer and back up line

It all depends on how the stations operate, for the longest time my volunteer department never had assigned seating the officer made the call, but he also based it off who is confident in getting the task done, as of now since we went into a county wide FP, we now have the assigned seating and we train regularly on each seat, we should be diverse in all engine company assignments as well.

Officer or most senior takes officers seat. Experienced guys in the middle newest on the out sides (hydrant and break man). We all pretty much know who goes where. We only have about 10 active people with 1 jr, 2 ems only. Most of us have been around awhile.
