So we got this real cool Brass Knob I want to clean up for our muster on the 4th of July. Ive been picking away at polishing it with a buffing wheel and some compound, but can't seem to get all the nooks and crannys. Do any of you out there in firefighternation have any ideas as to alternative cleaners? Or tricks to make it easier on me. Im pretty beat. Heres a picture of what Ive got so far.

I think it's absolutely gorgeous just the way it is. You're doing a beautiful job. You probably see lots more than we can see in the photo.

My first thought was asking guys at a body shop for ideas on compounds and techniques. They do it all day long. Even though they don't do brass they should have some good ideas.

Then there's Brasso. Available at grocery stores.

Is the Lubriderm for the brass or the sore hands??? ;-)

Haha, that would be for my dad, hes got arthritis. I also but it there as a joke because i was telling people i was polishing my knob hahaha. I got some updated pictures as of tonight, I think im going to leave it for the time being, my OCD and perfection needs are killing me tho. I have the leather straps that were on it hanging right now, with some leather oil soaking. I would seem i got worried over nothing. Got some bits for my dremel and went at it. Guess this post is more for bragging rights now, haha.

Fantastic! You should be very proud!

Nice knob! HaHaHa
