High-Rise Lessons from a Small Department

We have one residential (hotel) high rise (5 stories) in our community which was just completed. It is wood frame construction, full sprinkled, with detection in all areas of the building. We have done numerous walk-throughs and some pre-planning but informed the owners that should there be significant fire involvement of the structure that our main actions would involve public evacuation before beginning firefighting activities unless we had to do extinguishment to get to the victims. Our department does not have the manpower to handle a fire in this builing and we have no means of timely mutual aid as we are on an island 30 miles off the coast
