what I was trying to figure why everbody was given a ID number
if not everybody has been given I just wanted to know what everbody thought.

Your answer is in your question (ID) The purpose is to uniquely identify you on the department. Incidentally this answer was given pretty clearly on the other topic you started at http://my.firefighternation.com/forum/topics/radio-id
