Thank You Notes?
Have you or your crew ever received a thank you note from a civilian for something done while on duty? Have you ever been thanked for doing your job? Did you get a plate of cookies? A little note?
Do you enjoy getting a thank you note?
I sent one to the crew that responded to my mom's 9-1-1 call and took my sister to the hospital.
The only problem? I told them I wanted to be a parimedic!!!
After I went and toured one of the stations, I sent that crew a note.
This note is for all of you who serve your communities as Firefighters, EMTs,LEO, or in other public safety careers-
Thank you very much!!!!!!

We get cards and letters from time to time. It is not expected but is appreciated by the crews. It reminds them that with all the BS at the station, we still have a job to do, and thats why we put up with all of the day to day stuff. I think the thank you cards are a huge morale boost to crews.

We enjoy receiving occasional cards from citizens. We used to check on some patients' progress through EMS, aeromedical services or hospitals, but HIPAA changed that...

We do occasionally get a card or thank you note. We have received a cake or donation a few times. More often, someone at the scene will just walk up and thank us. Even though we don't really expect it, it is nice to hear every now and then.

Our vollie dept did duty crew on Christmas Eve and a lady came and banged on our front door. We all jumped like it was urgent, when the door was answered she had two pies that she gave us. She had no affiliation to any services, she just saw that we were there all day and wanted to thank us and wish us all a merry Christmas. Some times the great moments are saving peoples lives the next it is just a free pie.

we do get the thank yous from time to time.
I think the best one was a woman that was driving by the station, did a U-bie because she saw me and my partner sitting on the apron, gave us the update of her husband, she cried when she hugged us and thanked us. 3 days later, she came back, brought her husband with her, as he had just been released from the hospital, and they brought lunch for us. real morale booster.
our residents tend to complain about us not doing enough to save the many overdoses and shootings, etc, so its nice when its a positive conversation.

Thankyou's are not expected ever but like everyone else it's nice when they do come in.The hard one's are the one's that you do everything you can and the outcomes aren't what you were shooting for but the families respect us enough to know that we did do everything we could and still say thank-you. And once we put out a fire at one of the schools and all the students sent us individual thank-you's lot of reading there i'ill tell ya but it was quite funny reading all the comments in there from the little kids.
