Today I stopped by my old station to say hi, as we were all sitting around the table BS'ing, they reminded me of a night that I'd hoped no one would ever remember, especially me....
As I slept, at around 03:00hrs. the tones went off, the station floor light lit up, I awoke, headed to the Engine, I turned the Cole Hersee, put on my shirt and bunker pants, then flipped the power toggles, waited for the four clicks, so I could start the rig, as I did for every call. Hmm, where's the other guys, they must've missed the tones, so I headed into the sleeping quarters, woke up the Lt. the Medic and the other FF heard the commotion and were already headed to the truck. To save face, the Lt. coded en route right away, asking dispatch to repeat the address, There was a brief silence, so he tried it again, the dispatcher, responded in a confused voice, asked us where we were going, as she hadn't dispatched us to anything in four hours... Needless to say, I spent the next half hour in the Lt.'s office, had a conference call from the Captain, lol... I swore I heard a call come in, Yuppers, I dreamt a call... I'm pretty sure, I caught hell from the whole dept. on that one.... lol

Too funny!
Well at least you are still alive to have dreams...

could be worse...

I'm just sayin...

and yes, it has happened to all of us...

and since I talk in my sleep... and walk in my sleep... and some other things ;-)

just be glad you were awake for any of it !!!
Ahhh, yes, can match that one......

Several years ago, was home sound asleep after returning from a call about 2 hours previous, thought I heard the pager go off and responded to the station for the call. After several minutes of no one showing up and no more "tones", I called dispatch and they politely informed me there was no call. Laughed at myself the whole way back to the house....LOL Ya gotta love it!
Once a few years ago, I had a dream that I missed a call (which I've never done). I woke up ion the morning waiting to catch hell. Turned out there was no call! Had a good laugh over that one.
Yep. as A Probie my pager went dead @ 12:30 am and i jumpt up started to get dressed my wife said no one is talking ( Dispaching ) so i look at the pager and you guessed it,,, Battery light flashing away... boy did i feel foolish good thing no one in my dept know about it. lol
It's happened to me also. I've been more fortunate, though. I haven't gone to the trouble of waking people up. I was able to realize it was a dream shortly after waking up. Thank goodness. That's very funny.
It has happened to me not too long ago. I was working EMS and where the crews sleep is in the same office as dispatch. Well I dreamt that the door opened and the dispatcher said "you have a call." So I got up, got dressed, and went in to find the dispatcher asking me where I was going. I told her I was going on the call as soon as she told me what it was and where it was. After she looked at me like I had lost my mind she said "go to bed moron, you ain't got a call!" So I did as told and went back to bed. Caught hell about it for a bit too.
Maybe it will happen to me...maybe not, but it seems to run in the service...???

I would say it is funny...except for the part that I would probably do it myself!!!!
Its happened to me a few times, I have jumped up in the mid of the night. Seen the red light is on, and as I click the button to repeat what the page was. All I hear is the test page from a few hrs ago, that I did not clear from the memory. Since then I make sure that the red light is not on before I go to bed.
IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU - JUST YOU WAIT SISTER....
I have dreamed a call but whats worse is sleeping thru a call.. I was on the medic unit and had been on for 72hrs we had been run hard and the tones went off I never heard it and my partner had taken the cheifs car to get ice cream and reponded I slept untill 2 cops ran into the station yelling for me to wake up man fif I ever get crap for that one and you know it the engin company responed as well
One night about 18 years ago was sitting at the station around 22:00 hrs and one of our members came flying in the door and looked at me funny and said "aren't you going to the heart attack call on main st" I looked at him and said not across the lake in another town i'm not , good thing i was there he would have looked funny driving the ambulance to the residence or calling dispatch for more manpower , To find out his pager went off for that other dept that night , and now with our new minitor 5 pagers i wake up at night when mine goes off for other dept's or the paid amb. service in the city , guess it keeps me on my toes , but doesn't make the wife happy sometimes lol
