IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A fire has destroyed the main lodge at Big Powderhorn Mountain Ski Resort in the western Upper Peninsula.

Gogebic County Sheriff Pete Matonich tells the Daily Globe of Ironwood that the fire started about 11 a.m. Thursday on the east side of the lodge. No injuries have been reported.

Owner Bruce Noren says the fire isn't interrupting skiing at the resort.

The site is in Ironwood Township, northeast of Bessemer. Firefighters from 11 departments battled the blaze. They had to bring in water because the area has no hydrants.
