CINCINNATI - Firefighters say one person was killed when a Cincinnati homeless camp burned.

Authorities say no information was available early Monday about the victim, whose gender could not immediately be determined after being badly burned in what they described as a huge outdoor blaze. The fire late Sunday was at a camp at a city viaduct.

They say several manmade structures were consumed by flames. Firefighters are investigating what started the blaze.

Josh Spring is the executive director of the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless. He tells The Cincinnati Enquirer there are multiple homeless camps under the city's viaducts.

I'm starting to think that maybe we should try marketing our fire safety programs toward the homeless as well.
I think that would be a good idea.
Even if the F.D. goes to the local homeless shelter once every 3 months and does a fire safety seminar geared toward the homeless and the different scenarios they might find themselves in.
