LMAO

I'm calling BS on this one. You're a junior in HS but a deputy\assistant chief with 2 1/2 years of fire experience but still in high school? Either you need to update your profile or reality.

Our SOGs state that Cadets are to put education to the forfront, no pagers to be worn while on school property. Cadets are allowed to come to regular trainings and respond during certain hours during the school week. No responding during school hours !!
No.
@ Gregory Borg...sounds like a big city FF...
I'm sure there are plenty of fd that they dont need kids from school. But heres the kicker when i was a volunteer fireman i started at age 16. The thing is if my department wasnt where we were it was like 45 mins from either direction.
A fire department shouldn't rely on kids missing school. That's crazy. If they need more manpower than they need to recruit volunteers a little older.
And your point is?

You're saying the experienced firefighters were less able because you had a certificate on the wall?

Also, rather ironic that in this post you are saying how education (certification) is more important that experience but in your previous posts you state a HS education really isn't that important.

That would be a contradiction or oxymoron. So which is it? Education--including a full high school education or leaving high school because education isn't important but a FF cert is?
I grew up in Tampa and you can't even apply with the fd unless you have your Medic, Fire Standards and two year degree our be enrolled in a two year degree program. In our department the youngest we ever hired was 20 yrs old.
This sounds like they have there act together!
Mark,

I fixed your post:

Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Children's Volunteer Fire Department
With both my FD's it works like this. If your a Jr. and in high school, or even an adult in college, we expect you to get your education to better your future. But we understand there will be times when you will need to be pulled from your educational activities for certain reasons. (ie: serve multi vehicle accident (roughly 5+), large structor fire (2,3,4 alarm), possible terrorist attack, etc...)
Thanks and nice work!
