US Fire Administration

The US Fire Administration has announced the official line of duty death of Deputy Fire Chief Mark Johnson, 55, of the Hinsdale Fire Department on September 9, 2010.

Deputy Fire Chief Johnson responded to an emergency medical call with fire department units and, after returning to the fire station, collapsed while conducting department mandated physical training. Deputy Fire Chief Johnson was treated by fire department paramedics and other medical personnel, but passed away from a cause still to be reported.

I refer everyone to the answer retired CAPT bz wrote regarding the death of f/f paramedic Owens both are sad preventable deaths.
We are very saddened by the news of Chief Johnson's passing. Our hearts go out to his family and to members of the Hinsdale Fire Department.
