Is there any fire departments out there that still own LaFrance's (not sure if I'm spelling it right), they're absolutely gorgeous trucks I think.

i don't think there are anymore in this area
I should of titled this as "A girl and her trucks"
The first Engine I drove was a 1973 American LaFrance. That thing hauled !! It had that shorter wheelbase and turned on a dime. The transmission was so broken in that you could actually slide her in 4th gear and put it in pump gear on the roll, and when you came to a stop you were ready to flow water!! You just had to wait for the guys to stretch !! ( And it wasn't even and pump and roll capable Engine ) !! That Engine stayed in service until 2000 or somewhere in that time frame, she was well used by us. I remember the day that we had a structure fire and 535 was pulling out from the apron and broke down right in the middle of the street in front of the station, talk about scrambling to get equipment and mutual aid - Yikes!!
I love the story Chaplain Mike. i guess i'm a sucker good made trucks. i have to get some photos out.
