ST. PAUL, Minn. - Dozens of firefighters battled an intense blaze near the State Capitol.

Officials say the fire at a barber shop broke out about midnight Monday and reached the basement of the business, making it a challenge for firefighters.

Authorities say 75 to 100 firefighters helped fight the three-alarm fire.

Fire Chief Tim Butler says the biggest threat to firefighters is the intense heat and smoke inside the building. WCCO-TV says the high humidity also made it tough for firefighters.

An adjacent business, Mama's Pizza, has been flooded and sustained smoke damage.
