VOTE FOR HINES VFD AT WINAFIRETRUCK.COM

As we all know E-ONE gives away a free fire truck to a deserving department every year. This year there is a very small, little known department that for the SECOND YEAR IN A ROW is one of the final 7 in contention to win this fire truck.

Hines Oregon is a small town of just 1,700 people with an unemployment rate of over 20%. The last manufacturing plant shut down laying off 104 workers. They have two fire trucks, one is 35 years old and the other is 25. This one little station (in addition to one other town called Burns) protects 10,000 square miles. There are no 2nd alarms, no backups, if the truck breaks down, there are no reserves. As a matter of fact, their engine has KMart seat belts, breaks down regularly, takes weeks to find parts.

The Hines VFD really needs this fire truck from E-ONE. Yes, there are 6 other finalists, however, if you read all the stories you will agree that Hines is the most deserving.

There is an internet movement to try and help this small VFD. PLEASE help us spread the word and give this little town something to be proud of. Lets show the power of the internet and that we all can help make a difference in a community hit hard by the economy. This is their chance, their shot.

I read through a few of them... and will read through the rest later. They are all deserving and I will vote for one of them. Maybe Hines... but they all have good reasons to win.

Not one of the appeals provided call volume/type stats. How are we to make an informed decision?
When Rockland talks about small town Voluteer Fire Depts. I know what he means. I am chief of one of those departments, our department has almost 115 years of active service and we have no major manufactoring and are located in a small town of 400 to 500 people. We currently cover 51 square mile with fire and EMS, we run with engines not quite that old but we do have a 1993 1000/1000 engine and a 1996 2000 gal tanker, so yes I know what they may need. This program is a benefit to all fire departments and it should go to a deserving department.

Also try the Terry F. fund it is a great asset to our small town fire department. Check out the link from our websit Edwadsfd.com
