HUDSON, Fla. - A church dedicated to helping nearly 200 needy families in Hudson is a total loss after a fire started late Tuesday night.

Fire Chief Randy Mortellaro with Pasco County Fire Rescue says investigators will be at the scene Wednesday morning trying to figure out what started the blaze at the Lakeview Baptist Church.

The two alarm fire was difficult to fight because fire hydrants were not near the large one story building. Mortellaro says a ladder truck from New Port Richey had to assist his team of firefighters.

Beside the church's 50 regular members, every Thursday, the church hands out food to families in the area.

Rev. Harry Buckwalter says the church has insurance, but finding enough canned goods to help the families that depend on the church for food will be difficult.

What a shame, Prayers for the pastor and all the needy families that relied on the food given out by the church.

This is my brother's dept. He missed it, pulled cover.
