MOSCOW - The fire-fighters who died in the fire in Moscow's Grabar restoration centre had rescued three people there, a city emergencies department source told Itar-Tass.

When fighting the blaze in the Grabar art scientific and restoration centre, firemen Alexander Dymchikov and Vyacheslav Shashin rescued three people, the source said.

The firemen were among the first who arrived at the site and in a group examined the premises. They rescued three people - a policeman who guarded the building, a man worker and a woman. The rescuers returned to the third floor to check whether somebody was left there, and a flame outburst and construction collapse occurred in the building at the time.

About 100 people were evacuated from the burning building.

The deaths of the firemen shocked the Moscow fire-fighting centre.

Colleagues of the rescuers told Itar-Tass that the order to go to the fire site, Radio Street, was received at the communication station of Rescue Team 202 at 13:38 Moscow time on Thursday. In a minute, fire engines with crews headed by Alexander Dymchikov and a rescue vehicle with a crew headed by Vyacheslav Shashin went to the site. They arrived there in six minutes. The situation already was complicated. Ablaze were the roof, the garret and the third floor occupied by a restoration shop.

Dymchikov devoted all his life to helping people. From the age of 18, he worked as a medical orderly at the Sklifosovsky first aid institute. Then, after graduating from a medical school, he continued to work as an ambulance medical assistant. From 1997, Dymchikov was a rescuer of the Moscow rescue service. He began to work in Fire-fighting and Rescue Team 202 from the moment of its formation in 2005. He worked as a rescuer and became a head of a duty team. Colleagues say he was a highly-professional specialist. He worked selflessly, rescuing people. Dymchikov left a wife and a nine-year-old son.

Shashin was 26 years old. He came to work in Rescue Team 202 in 2006 after serving in the army. In a short period of time he became a skilled fire-fighter and a rescuer. Though he was young, he was authoritative among his colleagues. He always took the most difficult part of work for himself.
