I am getting very tired of police not managing the scenes better.  How many times will it take for them to pull their head out of their ass and pay attention to traffic coming down the highway and almost taking out a rig or ff.  Or how about a person(s) standing around us while we are trying to provide medical assistance to someone and cops are standing their like "what".   We need some room to work.  Some guy wanted to take picture the other day.

I had a security guard ask me if he could help with CPR.  I said NO.  He said, "he I know how to run an AED".  Are you serious.  What the hell is happening to having scene control.

All I can say is maybe I should have some donuts in the cab and that would help with keeping there attention...

Now let me make sure to say.  I have a lot of good friends on CPD and ISPD and other PD's who are awesome.  I just had a crappy week and my capt. says, just relax.

Hugs to all my FFN Brothers and Sisters.  Stay low and come home safe!

1. If you have traffic almost taking out FF's then maybe you're not using your apparatus to block appropriately.
2. What are your other FF's doing that they couldn't be herding people away?
3. Sounds like your officers need to talk to your Chief and he should have a talk with the Chief of Police
4. String the donuts on the yellow tape, that should give you some breathing room and keep the people out too.
Want to really piss them off....Next time you have a traffic problem close the damn road down until all is clear....that usually makes the point....we routinely shut the road down for major incidents and have had Fire Police handle traffic control with specific orders and radio communications...cuts down on the on site hazards a lot....also politely inform the PIA that if he doesn't remove himself from your scene you will have him removed....
Hey Jack,

I drive the rig and I corner it in to block traffic and the other ff. We had a nice car wreck and we are working the wreck and car comes by at like 25 miles right near the rig. My thought is why dont you move the traffice over to the far side of the hwy so cars do swipe the rig. FF cant heard people away when you have 5 guys on a heavy rescue rig and we all have assignments.

Thanks for all the info Jack....
I like that Paul. I am the chauffer for a Heavy Rescue team and our rigs really block traffic which piss off the police. The whole highway is closed. Thanks for the advise.
Even when it comes to the state police we've always come out on top when it comes to arguments over scene management. Hope the Police Chief can talk some sense into his guys.
Meanwhile sounds like a group hug (oops! I meant doughnut hug) is needed...
Good luck and don't turn your back on that traffic!
