Correct PPE?
If this guy is actually a member of this Fire Department, he absolutely should be wearing correct PPE. If he isnt apart of the Department, why is he up there in the first place?

anyone can sue anyone else with or without a reason...doesn't mean that you would win anything though....if you sued because your cat perished I don't think you would get far other than be labeled as a nut case....regardless of situation..if the Chief or IC says no-go...it is N0-go...cat or no cat....

Let's not get carried away. While I appreciate that this scenario is not ideal, what risk to health and life is this guy taking? As I said earlier, he might get scratched or he might fall from the ladder. (Alllllll the way down to the grass below him). Not a big deal.

if I choose to climb a ladder at my own house then I am entitled to do so. In these conditions that are shown in the picture the cat being in the window, you bet your a$$ I am going to climb up and get him. And yes I would be pissed had someone try to keep me from getting my cat.
You do realize that a structure on fire becomes the property of the fire department at that time. The fire department has the say on what happens and who goes where, meaning you are not entitled to anything, not even climbing a ladder for a pet.

On a lighter note...are you aware that if the IC or his/her representative tell you No..you can't do that and you do it anyways that you yourself can be arrested...? I know this because it happened at one of our structure fires...Property owner kept going inside while we were trying to fight the fire and get property out for him...He was told twice to stay out...third time Law Enforcement stepped in.....didn't go in a third time.....LOL

until the tape is up in my state it is not your scene and you do not have control of it. You cannot tell that from this picture. It is not illegal to walk onto a fire scene unless that scene is taped off.
Yeah, you better look into that one there. On an emergency scene the FD is in charge of the scene and structure. The owner can not dictate actions of the responders, nor be allowed to go in etc. Putting up fire tape is NOT an incident priority and typically occurs more into the incident than it does in the initial first minutes. Make no mistake, it IS the FD's scene and allowing anyone back in for any reason, no matter what one feels entitled to, is BS. After all the owner could be going back to try and cover up evidence, or back for something else and end up a victim, etc. This is also why a fire rig, or at least LE will babysit a scene while awaiting an investigation, because the time the FD leaves, the ONLY way back in is with a warrant. Better look into your facts.
I can say that if I weren't doing anything standing around with nothing to do I would have probably climbed the ladder and gotten the cat
