SALISBURY, Md. - A volunteer firefighter has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson in a fire set in a vacant home a year ago.

Twenty-two-year-old Kyle James Bradley entered the plea Wednesday in Wicomico County Circuit Court. Sentencing was set for April 7.

The fire set in a vacant house near Mardela Springs in March 2009 caused $100,000 in damage.

Two other men also have been charged in the incident.

Is there something in the water lately ?
Another black eye for the Fire Service....
What's to be surprised about? He's a male, twenties, (almost certainly white) and a volunteer.
Only real surprise is that there are not more of them starting fires.
A national registry for convicted firefighters of arson is whats needed in this country. This is why you really need to check out who is applying to your department. He will eventually be eligible for parole in the future, and with a national data base on these idiots, it would be helpful in the hiring process...
Jack:
You left out that more fires are being set in the east/northeast part of the country.
Yeah; probably a drinker too.
Are they setting more fires or are just more of them finally getting caught/turned in?
Seems like a rash of them, though.
Art,
I think it's less geographic and more demographic.
With 300 plus million or so people in this country, we see more of everything simply because there are more people to do it.
If it wasn't for FFN most of us probably wouldn't even hear of these arrests/convictions. Nice to have a clearing house for all things firefighter, especially the bad. Makes research much easier if one needed it.
Here we go again!
