BOLINGBROOK, Ill. - Authorities say 13 people, including a police officer, have been injured in a fire at an apartment complex in the Chicago suburb of Bolingbrook.

Bolingbrook police spokesman Mike Rompa says all victims were treated for smoke inhalation and the injuries did not appear life threatening.

Authorities say the fire started around 6 a.m. Sunday in the second floor of one of the buildings in the complex. The fire was out by around 8 a.m.

Rompa says the residents from 70 apartments in the building are being temporarily housed while smoke is cleared from the building. Most residents in the complex were not affected.

Authorities say a preliminary report shows food that was left on a stove may have been the cause of the fire.
