NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A fire at a high-rise apartment building for seniors on Nashville's north side has sent three people to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

Nashville Fire Department District Chief Charles Shannon said the fire at Chippington Towers II started around 9 a.m. Wednesday in a fourth floor apartment. It was doused by sprinklers, but not before smoke spread throughout the floor.

Three people were taken to Skyline Medical Center for smoke inhalation and exhaustion from trying to come down the stairwell.

Shannon said the building's evacuation plan worked well, preventing further injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Another FANTASTIC argument for making sprinkler systems mandatory in residential structures(read Single Family homes).

Just my opinion!
