Kali,

That's just the "kinda" guy I am.
On my Fire Company Helmet(Black Bullard Trad.)I have my last name in 1/2 red vinyl letters,a reflective Mercy Flight Ground Crew sticker,a 2 in. Star of life,A FDNY 9-11-01 Sticker(FDNY Emblem with the black line threw it),2 Blue Reflective Trapizoids(Air Pack Cert.),An American flag, and "T2" in the red letters on the back brim of the helmet.
On my Emergency Squad helmet(Yellow Bullard "Turtleshell") I have EDEN EMS & RESCUE Sticker on front(this is also our personnel vehicle sticker),on the sides i have EDEN EMS & RESCUE in 1/4 vinyl letters above the reflectors with a large "49"(from Autographics r/c car sunoco #94 nascar sticker sheet) above that,on the back my last name in white 1/4 in vinyl letters,Above that i have a "49"(1/25 scale sticker from above mentioned comp.)Next to that an American flag, and a Buffalo Fire Dept. Lt.McCarthy/FF Croom Memorial Sticker on the rear brim, also nascar contingency sponsor decals at the base of helmet dome above the brim on each side(can't see them unless you really look at the helmet).
Never met a Firefighter yet that wasn't a "character"....LOL
Amen Brother!!!
American flag sticker and wrote under back brim "Isiah 43:2"
I got a yellow Bullard traditional with flame reflective tethedrons that have the silver maltese cross also reflective. I also got my number flame reflective, a maltese cross on the front that has Bell County Volunteer Fire Dept around it, and a helmet band that has a garrity light and 2 sprinkler chocks.
My helmet has a leather front shield with our dept. name and unit number (24) Chief arches on both sides and a FoxFury 20 helmet lamp.
That's right Paul, so where is the need for people to decorate their lid. If it was allowed here, I'm willing to bet some people would do it...
I'm going to be bad. Very, very bad...

Why? Because I feel that way :-)

All these mentions of the 'Maltese Cross'. Are they the true Maltese Cross as appears on the national flag of Malta? The cross that was an emblem of the Knights of Malta, the Knights Hospitaller? The Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, which ended up based in Malta? I think not, most likely they are references to what could be better called a 'Fire Service Cross'.

We use the Fire Service Star here, not a cross symbol. But our State wide Ambulance service use the (true) Maltese Cross in their emblem.

I'm still quite happy to only have official stickers on my lid ;-)
#1... Does it really matter...? #2...I only noticed maybe 1 mention of the Malteses cross...#3..As I mentioned before opinions are like assholes...we all have them and they all stink....Now, isn't that special.....I don't give a rat's ass what is on your lid...as long as you can do the job you can have Mickey Mouse on it for all I care.......Paul
My helmet and one of my employees vertical rescue helmets....

These were made by Weston Signs in the USA. www.westonsigns.com
1. Is the name correct or not? The name (very old, and important) and the symbol (not very old, but important) don't match. Fact.
2. Four plus one picture...
3. Correct. We can all either do what we like or do what we have to do - nobody has to care about others' helmets. But I find it interesting to read what others say.

4.Congratulations for being the first to 'take the bait' Paul ;-)

Meny people don't understand our humour, but that's OK because we do ;-)

PS. I didn't ask for people to like what's on our helmets, just gave both opinion and description.
