COMBINED LOCKS, Wis. - The house of the Combined Locks' fire chief has been destroyed by a fire.

Police Chief Scott Lund says the fire at the house of Kevin Carney started around 4:15 p.m. Monday. Lund says two of the chief's family members made it out safely.

He says the chief was at a funeral at the time and left to come to the fire but did not take part in extinguishing it.

Lund says firefighters were on the scene for about eight hours. Officials are still trying to determine the fire's cause.

The Post-Crescent in Appleton reports that Outagamie County court records put the house's fair market value at $257,899 and the assessed value at $246,500.
