A member in my department has an implanted device and wishes to remain in an active duty status. I need some names and contact information of people who are in simular situations. Any help would be appreciated.

His cardiologist is not the one making the decisions though, it's the doc for the department. His cardiologist can make a recommendation to return to full duty, but that's not necessarily how it'll turn out. While the department doc takes cardiology recommendations, it's ultimately his name going on the paperwork returning that firefighter to work. While it CAN be done, and waivers can be granted, it's a very tall hill to climb. I would be extremely reticent to put my name on that patient's chart regardless of cardiology recommendation, and suspect that if your doc signs off it's going to require a ton of hoops jumped through. Dont get me wrong, I wish you both luck - but odds of success are very low. There is also a gigantic difference between the previously mentioned firefighter arresting then returning to work and someone with an IACD, so those are apples and oranges.
Shucks, we had a guy actually die and after a half dozen shocks he was revivied! There are positive cases out there. The doctors at our clinic specialize in workers comp issues. They will tend to follow the private physicians recommendations. So positive feedback is essential.
