Firefighter NetCast debuts Tuesday night at 8pm ET with a LIVE NetCast!

Firefighter NetCast is an internet radio show by and for firefighters, featuring topics which are current, interesting, fun, and sometimes controversial.

The featured topic for the first show is Line of Duty Deaths.

Firefighter Line-of-Duty Deaths are down this year. Is this just a welcome fluke or are we actually making progress? Is it realistic to shoot for zero LODD’s? What has your department done to address line of duty deaths on a local level? Are there obstacles keeping your department from doing more? What resources are available to help you?

Join fire bloggers Fire Critic and Fire Daily as they discuss this and other issues in the greatest of all professions- the Fire Service.

The format allows for you to interact with us live in the chat room, or directly by telephone.

If you are unable to join us live, you can listen or download to any previous show at your leisure.

Check out the Firefighter NetCast web site for all the information and show links.

It was pretty cool if I do say so myself.
Chat room was full.
Great live discussion on LODDs with Bill Carey, Rhett Fleitz, John Mitchell, Chris Naum and myself.
You can catch is as it has been archived here: http://firefighternetcast.com/2010/01/live-netcast-line-of-duty-dea...

TCSS.

I was in the chat room listening and giving responses as well. I gotta say, Art, you did a great job in voicing your concerns and the facts. And Christopher Naum made some good points when he called in too. Actually, everyone did a great job. Real smooth. I must admit, there were some things I was lost in, but what I did catch was right on the money. It was an excellent premier and judging from the turnout, I would imagine more will check it out. The next one that relates to the fire service is Feb 4/10. Should be another great show too. Can't wait.
Wow; my first fan. Thanks, Derek.
You will not find anyone in the fire service who has a head for analyzing stats like Bill Carey can. Bill is analytical. I am maniacal!
It's crazy, but it felt like we have known each other for years, but only know each other through the web. Chris and I met at FDIC last year. Just a brilliant man. Bill and I go back to his Firehouse.com days and IACOJ. We haven't always agreed; but I have always respected his opinion. If you ever see him, don't let his youthful appearance fool you; he has his hands completely around the issues of today's fire service. His website is a must for anyone wanting to keep up.
Rhett amazes me with how much he is involved in. John is right here in my home state of Illinois and I plan on visiting him at FDIC and this summer on the hog.
That chat room was crazy wasn't it? Man; it had discussion going. I am pleased to be a part of the inaugural voyage FirefighterNetCast. I hope it continues.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure the others appreciate it, too.

You're right, everyone did a phoenominal job, and yes, the chat room was crazy. I found that if you had something you wanted to mention regarding a certain topic, you had better be quick, as some of the topics in there changed quite rapidly.
Will you be participating in the next one as well, Art?
Hey, I may enjoy your writing ability and vocal skills, but don't think I'm gonna hunt you down and break your ankles or anything. lol. There was a movie out like that but I can't recall the name.

Keep safe and have fun
Thanks for the enjoyment! I agree the chatroom discussion moves quickly! It is even harder when you have to focus intently on the discussion and follow the chat. Obviously I have to follow the discussion a little more since I am in it, but we will get it down pat in no time!

Thanks for everything Art. I am happy you enjoyed yourself and were able to add to the discussion. If someone had told me that we would have you, Bill, and Naum live on the first netcast I would have told them that they are crazy!

I look forward to the future of Firefighter Netcast! John and I are ecstatic over the reviews we have gotten so far!
Derek:
The movie was called "Misery".
It starred Kathy Bates and James Caan.
Yeah; I cringe every time she carries the board and sledgehammer into the bedroom.
Ouch.
