ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Fire Department says one person was killed and 47 elderly residents have been displaced after a fire at a retirement housing center.

Fire spokeswoman Maria Sabol said Sunday the fire damaged 37 units in one building of the Miracle Terrace complex in Anaheim, and all have been deemed uninhabitable.

Authorities have not released the age or identity of the person killed in the Saturday night blaze.

Sabol says investigators have not found a cause, but says the fire does not appear suspicious.

The fire began in a second-floor apartment, moved to the third floor and then into the attic, where it quickly spread throughout the building.

Sabol says it took firefighters more than an hour to put out the blaze, which caused an estimated $1.5 million in damage.
