now i know we dont have as much expirence as hundreds of "salty" ff's on this website, but we can still share our stories.. ideas and training expirences amoungst one another cant we?

so tell me, how many explorers are in your post?
has your explorer post ever went to a fire academy?
what color is your bunker gear?
are you ff only? medic? fire-rescue?
do you get treated good? or treated like bottom of the pole scum?
plans for the future? further in the fire service? (i.e.. fire investagator?)

there is much to talk about, i just need someone to talk to..

I am Waylon Vondenhuevel. I have been active with the fire department for 5 years. I was grandfathered in at one fire department. This department is Maplewood FD. We have three trucks. 861 and 862 are Engine/ Tankers. 866 is our grass truck. This truck is kind of special because it is a 1966 Chevrolet 4 speed and my grandfather and great grandfather built it. We cover approximately 4 miles in all directions. We are located in Maplewood, Ohio. My other department is Shelby County Fire Department in Sidney, Ohio. I have been on for 3 years and I am currently the AC. We have 9 members and 2 probationary. Our department contains 7 apparatus. 1261 is our Heavy Rescue. 1262 is our Tanker. 1264 is our Compressor Truck for the air supply in the Heavy Rescue. 1265 is our Ladder Truck. 1267 is our Grass/ Field Unit. 1565 is our Mobile Rehab. 1543 is our Haz-Mat Unit. Both departments are voluntary and my plans are to stay a volunteer after I get out of the National Guard. My bunker gear for MFD is red and the gear for SCFD is Morning Pride yellow. We are treated well and we are all certified in Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED. I am 17 years old.
ive heard of shelby fd
well i am part of two posts
one strictly EMS no academy no turnout gear around 50 explorers some people in the town fd and even our own service hate explorers but i understand not everyone will like us.
my other post is a fir resuce ems post. from what i heard it started off as a pd post but merged with fd. i dont know if we go to the academy. we get what ever gear is not being used but it is yellow with a green helmet. at this dept we are treated great.
why do people hate you in the EMS only area?

My name is Davin Eshelman. I am with the Lima Fire Department Explorer post 4029 in western NY. I am the president (Chief) of the post. I have been with the post for about 3 years. We have about 4 active explorers in our post. Yes we have visited a fire academy a couple of times. Our turnout gear is tan. Yes I get treated well but there are certain members of the post who would get treated well if they were a little bit more mature for their age. I plan on joined the volunteer fire department as well as becomeing a career firefighter. We have 6 rigs not including the chiefs cars.

232-Grass Truck
234-1st Line Pumper
235-2nd Line Pumper
236-Tanker
238-Aerial Truck
239-Rescue

Ambulance Corps.
NEW 2881-Primary Ambulance
2882-Back up ambualnce

In march we are getting a new Pierce Puc Rescue Pumper.
That's a little about our post and our department
are 234 and 235 the engines? because out here the "tanker" and "pumper" are the same thing
yes 234 and 235 are then engines. Were the only county in New York state to call them pumpers. Our tanker doesnt have a pump on it so its just a tanker that carries water.
ahh, gotcha
