PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Authorities say a Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue truck headed to a car fire on Florida's Turnpike in Palm Beach Gardens collided with a motorcycle.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the Thursday morning crash sent the motor rider to the hospital several lanes of traffic to be closed for a couple hours.

A Fire-Rescue spokesman reports that the truck was making a U-turn across a median when the crash occurred.

The motorcycle's driver, 43-year-old Dennis Donahue, was wearing a helmet and safety glasses. His injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening.

The driver of the truck, William Bassett, sustained minor injuries.

The FHP report says the truck's emergency lights were on.
