Been a very quiet month in McKenzie, Tennessee. We have only had two paged out calls, and less than 10 non-emergency calls this month. First page out was a rescue involving a person trapped under a piece of agricultural equipment. Second page out was a shed fire caused by a brush pile being burned. The fire spread by the wind set the shed on fire.
I responded to the airport terminal where a hydraulic line broke on an aircraft and the pilot & co-pilot inhaled the vapors. One was lightheaded and felt congested the other was complaining of chest pressure...the MSDS for the stuff they inhaled said "Seek medical attention" so it was a real big help. We had them transported.
i worked until 20minutes ago. Got 4 calls after midnight. 1 intoxicated person who had passed out inside a taxi, i medical alert. Traffic- 8 car pile up on the freeway. and 1 good rubish fire - dumpster was gone.
We responded to a capsized boat in very rough water conditions in the ocean around 1230 this morning, I was actually reading the forums on here when the pager went off. It took a while to find their boat and then get to them but we picked up 3 guys who were clinging to their boat. We were all pretty lucky really. We had Coast Guard, EMS, County Fire, My VFD, and 2 helicopters working. Initially it was a real cluster...unfortunately I was the IC. Live and learn.
