(AP) NEW YORK - The Fire Department and Consolidated Edison are working to determine what caused a transformer fire in Queens.

Thick black smoke billowed through the area around the power station on Northern Boulevard. Firefighters grappled with the blaze for several hours on Friday before it was brought under control.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Con Edison says about 100 customers lost power.
