Alabama Firefighters Charged with Arson
(AP) WOODVILLE, Ala.
Jackson County authorities say two Woodville volunteer firefighters and a third man have been charged with arson.
Chief Investigator Chuck Phillips of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department identifies the firefighters as 24-year-old Travis Edward Wallace of Woodville and 23-year-old Casey Duane Wilkinson of Scottsboro.
Phillips says the two men and 26-year-old Edward Lee Childress of Athens are charged with second-degree arson in the burning of a barn on March 8.
Phillips says Wallace was arrested Friday and released, and Wilkinson was arrested and released on Monday. Both men posted bond. Phillips says authorities are still seeking Childress.

serious stuff! my parents grew up around this area. still have relatives in guntersville and albertville area, and i still visit often. used to love seeing the old barns around the old cotton fields. my grandfathers were cotton farmers. my dad used to be a fiddler around the area. its a shame some of our own have such total disregard for properties or heritage. but it even happens here in indiana. boredom is the root cause. maybe more intensive training would help stem the boredom and curiosity.

TRAINING IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THESE PEOPLE BEING COMPLETE AND TOTAL A**H****. ITS SIMPLY AMAZING TO ME THAT THESE PEOPLE CAN FIND NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH THEIR TIME. WE ALL SIGN UP TO HELP PEOPLE NOT BURN SHIT AND POSSIBLY CAUSE INJURY TO OURSELF, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, AND INNOCENT CIVILIANS. I REALLY DONT HAVE AN ANSWER FOR WHAT IS GOING TO STOP THIS OTHER THAN MORE STRINGANT PENALTIES, ESPECIALLY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FIREFIGHTERS. THE THING THAT BOTHERS ME THE MOST ABOUT ALL OF IT IS HOW BAD OF A REPUTATION WE GET FOR IT. PEOPLE NEVER SEE THE GOOD THINGS WE DO, JUST WHEN SOME A**H**** WACKER FEELS THAT HE HASNT HAD A BIG FIRE TO FIGHT IN A WHILE SO HE DECIDES TO TORCH SOMETHING. I HEAR IT ALL THE TIME PEOPLE ARE LIKE WHENS THE NEXT VOLUNTEER GONNA BURN SOMETHING DOWN, AND ALL KIND OF OTHER SMART REMARKS ABOUT VOLUNTEERS SETTING FIRES, AND I KNOW FOR THE MOST PART THEY ARE JUST JOKING WITH ME BUT THERE IS SOME SERIOUSNESS THERE. I WISH WE COULD GET AWAY FROM THAT PERSONA. WE HAVE FINALLY STARTED TO GET AWAY FROM THE PERSONA OF BEING A BUNCH OF DRUNKS, AND GOING ON CALLS DRUNK. ANY ONE ELSE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?
