Burn Run Notice

Join us for an entire day of family fun! Held during the San Diego County Fair, general fair admission will allow visitors to enjoy the fairgrounds PLUS all the excitement that has made FIRE EXPO & Firefighter Combat Challenge the largest firefighting event in Southern California. Watch teams compete in full gear through a demanding fire course. Plus, experience the Burn Run Parade with 100+ fire trucks, listen to live music, see “live” firefighting demonstrations, visit interactive booths with activities, and fire and burn prevention for the kids. If anyone is going to be in SoCal this weekend this is a don't miss event. Apparatus Parade at 1:30PM. The Steamer has been there in the past.

New venue. Started out with a pre-baseball event but when the Padres moved downtown, attendance started to dwindle. Bring your ear plugs. 100 trucks lights/siren can be a little noisy.

Fire helicopter knocks over sign at fairgounds Saturday, June 20, 2009 18:24 PDT

Wind from a rescue helicopter performing a flyover during
the San Diego
County Fair caused a concession sign to bend and nearly fall
near spectators
today, a San Diego Fire Department spokesman said.

The incident occured shortly after 13:30 during the Burn Run
Parade of Fire
Engines at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. No one was injured.

San Diego Fire spokesman Maurice Luque said the department's
Fire-Rescue
Copter 2 was flying 250 to 300 feet over the fairgrounds,
when a gust of
wind caused the metal supports on a plastic sign to bend
over, causing a
"minimal amount of damage."

The annual Burn Run was held at the fairgrounds after being
held for 18
years at Qualcomm stadium. The event featured firefighting
relays,
demonstrations and displays.

Good thing my wife got her turkey leg BEFORE the parade.
