ST. PARIS, Ohio (AP) -- The state fire marshal's office says four children have been killed in a mobile home fire in Champaign County.

State Fire Marshal's spokesman Shane Cartmill says firefighters responded to the heavy blaze in a mobile home park in St. Paris early Saturday. He says all four children were under age 12, but their names and ages have not been confirmed.

Cartmill says two adults and one child escaped through a window, and at least one was injured.

Officials do not know if the victims or survivors were related to each other. Cartmill says the home was equipped with one fire detector, but it was not functioning.

St. Paris is located about 15 miles northwest of Springfield.

my thoughts and prayer are with all involved
That sure was a shame to lose those kids That is one thing bad about a mobile home if they catch fire they go quickly and if the smoke detector was not working that makes it even worse..My prayers go out to the family
A lot of the old mobile homes have only one fire detector and it is in the kitchen. I know this because mine only had one and it never worked. but we have more since i became and junior i became paranoid about it. but my prayers go to the family and the children that is horrible.
