TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa County prosecutors have charged a teenager for allegedly assaulting a firefighter who was trying to treat a woman who had trouble breathing.

A group of bystanders began beating Robert Redricks, 40, before one of them threw him to the ground on Sunday, Fire Capt. Michael Baker said.

Prosecutors charged Kaleb Jermaine Myers, 18, on Thursday with assaulting an emergency care provider and interfering with an emergency medical technician. He had not been arrested Thursday night, jail records showed.

Myers' bail will be set at $100,000 if he is arrested on the misdemeanor charges, records show.

Redricks and another firefighter suffered minor injuries in the attack but were able to finish their shifts, Baker said.

Previous criminal charges against Myers have been dismissed because of witness problems, court records show.

Since 2006, Myers has faced unrelated charges of first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and feloniously pointing a firearm. Each case was thrown out because witnesses for the prosecution did not testify, court records show.

After the attack Sunday, medics took the woman who needed medical help to an area hospital in serious condition, an Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman said.

Police did not arrest any suspects in connection with the beating but jailed some bystanders who had outstanding warrants, Baker said.

They have not put this A## HOLE in jail yet what we have to get shot or stab before they do anything but they lock up bystanders for warrants im sorry this P.M.O. forget the bail i think the men from OLKA should find mister Kaleb Jermaine Myers and take him out in the woods and show him a real A## kicking
I couldnt agree more with you Dennis. He is already a known troublemaker yet they let him stay free. Something is wrong when witnesses won't testify against him.
I fell we (EMS/F's) should get the same respect and laws as the PD. If that would have been a cop they assaulted he would be in prison by now. Why cant the Fed Govt' step up the penalties for us??
It is amazing how well you can defend yourself and your brothers with O2 bottles and halligans. What a bunch of punk kids, this is unbelievable. And its only a misdemeanor?!?
This is incredible that they haven't arrested anyone yet. To me this is sending a message that anyone can go out and beat up a firefighter or an emt/medic when they are trying to do their job. These idiots are lucky that the poor woman didn't die. I can't imagine what was even going through their heads to do what they did. I hope that this is handled with the people that did the assault being punished with jail time.
This guy was arrested today. The paper keeps saying misdemeanor but the news says felony because he is a firefighter. The reason he wasn't arrested sooner is because when they heard more sirens coming they ran out the back door of the house and alot of the bystanders were less than cooperative about descriptions and names.
This is very disappointing. Why did the little A$$HOLE Interfere in the first place. If he doesn't have a CPR Card stating Health Care Provider he has no business interfereing Ugh this really disappoints me. And I agree with Dennis Brown he needs a good A$$ Kicking
I would have like to have heard of this punk getting the shit stomped out of him for doing that to one of my fellow firefighters. Bring his ass to Kilgore, Texas!!
