CHUNCHULA, Ala. (AP) -- An 18-year-old volunteer firefighter in Mobile County has been arrested and charged with arson in a house and woods fire.

State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk said firefighter Coty Presley of Chunchula was arrested Tuesday morning. He's accused in a Feb. 19 fire at a residence and surrounding woods in the Chunchula community.

In a statement, Paulk said Presley is a firefighter with the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

Charged with two counts of felony arson, Presley surrendered at the Mobile County Jail. Bond was set at $6,000.

If convicted, Presley could be sentenced up to 15 years in prison, plus fines and restitution.

When will they learn
Such a common thing these days.
and that makes the rest of u look bad and/or harder to get onto a dept
I have read about firefighters gone fire-starters quite a lot over Firefighter Nation but it is a first for being only one hour away from where I live. I don't really understand why firefighters would start fires as it goes against our mission. This kid will carry a mark of shame and hopefully never serve in the fire service again. It is completely ridiculous but fortunately nobody was hurt because of some idiot.
