see thats when Id be tempted to respound POV, but I dont wanna get in trouble either, I would have to talk that one over with my chief.
u can do it....
Talk it over with your employer, most of my guys have the ok to show up a little late if there is a structure fire. I give my guys a note if they need to, but most importantly do not abuse it. If your employer wont let you then respect his wishes. I agree with John- your job and family come first- your volunteerism is greatly appreciated but I dont want my guys to lose their job over it!!! Structure fire last week -4am page out I know my three or four guys that need to leave by 6:30 to get ready for work and I prepare for that, I just appreciate the few hours they can help!!
how do they get back to the station.
go for it why not your a young man and still growing you might be 115 now but in two years 230 and like everybody says on here Drive,Desire,Courge,Compassion,Sincerity will get you threw it
If they have to be at work in a few hours I have no problem with 1 or 2 folks responding in POV and they can shuttle each other back to the station when the time comes.
I know I can, it just that, I wanna interfere with other priorities, like a paid job etc.
i'm 5'6 123 Lb. lady FF and do lot of stuff .but bellevet or not i'm taller then the chef he he but wach out for those
attic ladders that are stored in the celling tuf for us verticly challengd try bring some one with a little hight when cheking fire alarms saves time. go for it ther is no weak link as long as your team looks out for problims every one has to have help at one point or another.hope it helps jess
thanks for the replies guys.
My question to you is do you think you can do the job? Is it a vol or f/t job? Go talk to your chief and tell him your concerns. See if he can get you someone to back you up on a hose and start dailing it up and see what you can and cannot do. Belive me I am 38 o 6' tall and weigh 145. At training it works me over bad but put a live fire with a situation at hand and I am good to go. Good luck
I am looking to do it volunteer, I am not looking at it as a career, just something for me to do on the side.
Im a Lieutenant in my department. I'm telling you There is a place in the fd for everyone! It's a business Vol. or Paid. It needs people to run both sides. The fire and business side. So if you join and the fire gig doesn't work @ first you can still be a big help on the business side of things. But I think you will surprise your self on the fire side!
GO FOR IT!!!!

You will thank us l8r!! ;)
