On route to the fire scene

we all know that getting to the fire can be just as dangerous as fighting the fire. and as far as i know, there is no real law that a civilain car needs to get out of the way for emergency responce vehicles, so i ask you this, does your town or city do anything about this issue? have a set law? cameras in the firetruck to record on route calls?

How do you feel about drivers that dont move to the side? what do you do? do you take action yourself or do you just sit behind them honking your horn?

Approach your DMV, or whatever it's called in Ohio. Use the telephone. Ask the people who know the answer. They'll be able to tell you the name of the law. Go to the source.

We have a move over law in New Hampshire as well.

There is a set law in Texas. It's called failure to yield for an emergency vehicle. We run cams in our trucks when they are on but its rare we report those people even so they are more for if we get in an accident.

like its been stated, there is a code and tip, but no real law.. i wrote a note to the senator of Ohio for a class project, and im going to mention this to them

I think every fire department has the same probloms. people don't think when they drive and they see a emergency vehicle going to a call with lights and sirens why think they don't have to yield for you. even if you call in the plates the people still don't pay the tickets.

well thats also what i need help with, how would we enforece a law such as this, so far weve heard of cameras and calling them in, any other ideas?

dont know about any laws, but we have told troopers and deputies and gave them plate numbers and they have issued tickets, by mail or going to the house. it all falls under not yeilding to emergency vehicles
