Hey there Billy,
I know what you mean. Here in SWFL (Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, Collier, Glades Counties), we've been pretty high on the KB Index on a regular basis as well. Like you, I grew up here, just E of Fort Myers (Alva) and the Everglades come right up to Collier and Hendry (S & E of me, respectively). There have been brush fires in some parts of the glades that were supposed to be under water; they are still sloughs, however, and thus inaccessible by brush trucks. For the first time since any FF (including DOF) around here can remember, DOF had to dispatch several Soft Tracks units (which are pretty flippin cool).
I know what you are talking about that area you are from is pretty nasty stuff.I went down there several years ago when Charlotte Co. had the arson running around. we have been getting some rain but the swamps are still dry. been doing some precribe burning and thats been going great. all we had is some small wildfires nothing much.
