Just curious from other fulltime firefighters and fire officers, does your department publish your annual gross income wage in the annual town/city budget report?
My department hasn't and due to the recent economy crisis, the local newspaper has filed under right to know, the entire police and fire department's annual wages. They then published the numbers in the newspaper and it has created some bad feelings among some of our members.
As some of the very active and aggressive overtime takers outwaged even the fire chief and now we are hearing average joe public complaining he doesn't make that much money at his "real" job. What the article forgot to mention was the top earners worked a 2-3 hundred hours of overtime covering the station... and the public think the salaries seen in the article was straight pay.
Just curious if anyone else has had their salaries published?
