We as well have an '85 FMC. Ours is on a GMC chassis. I really believe that it's a great truck. Ran great for several years but now she's going down the road with the Pumper/Tanker 1250/2250 in service.

We had a truck almost identical to FF622's, only it was a 1984. As delivered it had a gas engine, 1000 gpm pump and 1000 tank. It was badly underpowered to traverse our hills. Otherwise it was a good truck.

It had a FMC pump, which was the kiss of death since FMC is no longer in the business and pump parts are no longer available. It did have an impeller replaced in the 90s, but the part took months to get and had to be fabricated for us.

We also worked the engine over: we put in exhaust headers, a racing cam and other little goodies. After that it had much more pep and the exhaust manifolds didn't glow red when pumping at capacity. With the headers you could hear the truck coming for miles.

We got rid of it a year ago, and it has been converted to a water tender truck by a local well driller.
By the way FF622, you may be interested in this:
