Okay ive have a new topic for everyone that is rather relivent to a current situation, Does anyone know if there are any NYS training (or other) requirments to hold a position of command ie Chief, 1st Asst and 2nd Asst. in a volunteer company or even any other relvent laws to the positions of command?
Thanks in advance

O, I probally should of mentioned that I am fully aware of my dept and district bylaws. I just wanted to know if there was any state mandates or anything along those lines.
There are requirements of certain training curriculumns and NIMS courses.
any idea what those training requirments might be?
So let me take a guess, your department just had its elections and someone isn't happy with the outcome?
False but nice try
In most states there isn't a different requirement for line officers outside of those mandated of the firefighters. Everything else governing officer appointment and qualifications is handled in the bylaws.
at my station u have to have so many years of experience and levl one, level 2, incident command, safety officer, hazmat, firest aid cpr, evoc and a bunch of classes like that in order 2 be an officer by all departments are different check your bylaws to see ur stations requirments
Yeah I was just curious if there were any state mandates in NY for the posistion of Chief I mean its a rather important rank. Our bylaws are good but i wanted to make sure our bylaws or even our district bylaws were not going against anything the state requires
