Barnwell County, S.C. firefighter dies in house fire in his own home.

I don't know if this story made national new's but it did locally. Red Oak Vol. firefighter Bentrice Flint died in a fire in his own home. The blaze was reported at 3:45 a.m. sunday morning Novemember 4, 2007. Red Oak fire chief ,Joe Gaines Sr., was awakened by his daughter screaming ,that "uncle bent's house is on fire", across the street. Gaines notified 911, got dressed and ran across the street to Flint's house to gain entry, but couldn't due to the advancement of the fire. Gaines then ran to the station, which is several hundred feet from the Flint house, to get a truck to fight the blaze. Chief Gaines is Flint's brother-in-law. Flint was a Vietnam veteran and a firefighter for 15 year's. He leave's behind several sister's and brother's, 3 children, niece's, nephew's, friend's and all of us here at the Red Oak Vol. Fire Dept .

Thought and prayers are with them all................... God Bless.
My condolences to his family and friends.
Prayers and condolences go out to his family and "fire family". How very difficult when it is one of your own, in so many ways. May God watch over all of you.
