ST. Louis FireFighter Shot and Killed Trying to help at a Car Wreck.

A ST. Louis Firefighter was shot and killed tonight . The Firefighter stopped to help what he thought was a car wreck. Little did he know it was a robbery suspect who just robbed a store and wrecked a car he stole. The robber then shot the ST. Louis Firefighter in the chest and stole his Fire Dept. Vehicle. The suspect then crashed and got into a shootout with police officers. The ST. Louis Firefighter was taken to a nearby Hospital where he later died of his injuries. The suspect was also killed by police. Let us take time to pray for his family and friends. Let him rest in peace.

My Thoughts Go Out To The Firefighters Family
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all our brothers with St. Louis Fire....
We were just talking about this type of thing coming back from a meeting last nite. You just never know what your walking into.My thoughts and prayers go out to family, friends and the brothers and sisters he worked with.
Video Report: KMOV

This is the worst kind of tragedy in our industry, and my sincerest condolences go out to the family and brotherhood of St Louis FD who must be trying to find some meaning in this time of loss.

Devil's advocate time. We as EMT's are taught to assess the safety of a scene, let's all ask how we could assess a scene and spot the factors that could leave us in a similar situation. Perhaps everything was done right, we don't know, nor are we likely to. But we should all look out to see what critical factor could prevent this from happening to us.
Our thoughts are with him and his family.....also his fire service family

The coat and boots are empty,
The helmet hangs on the wall,
The siren is loudly screaming
But they"ll not answer the call.

Though many a time they responded,
And protected their wearer from harm,
They no longer will now be needed
For he has answered his last alarm.

They remain as a silent tribute,
To a fireman's life now a memory,
To his untiring effort to help others
To his devotion to saving both life and property.

The Supreme Chief has ordered the fireman,
To take a detail for everyone,
To an assignment of peace and beauty
Far across to etenity's shore.

Yes, the coat and boots are empty,
The helmet hangs on the wall,
The siren is loudly screaming
But they'll no longer answer the call.

its a shame when we have to worry about getting shot trying to save lives. The Nunda FD and my prayers with the St Louis FD and the family.
Rest in Peace Brother your family and friends are in all of our prayers.
Sorry for your loss Brother. Once again tragedy strikes the Bravest of St. Louis. Firefighter Riggins, and his family, will be in our thoughts and prayers, as will the rest of his firefighting family in St. Louis.

Be safe out there.
It is a sad state when someone who is out to do good and serve their fellow man gets gunned down. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and department.
