The hardest part about becoming a fire fighter is once your selected and are on probationary status is keeping your head down and your mouth shut for the first year. Then when people come to you then you can be more vocal. Its human nature to want to fit in and talk with the guys and stuff, but some old timers dont like that stuff. I had an old Captain who used to always tell the probes to " Shut up and Color" some thing that has stuck with me for years.
