I would have more of a problem with a FF not following an order than going 2 bottles.
First off, if the firefighter falls, he is on his own insurance from his own fire department. Just because you called mutual aid doesn't entail bringing them under your insurance. Second off, running is something that needs to be looked at all the time. I myself find myself walking briskly towards the engine to grab a pack, and get to work. Adreneline, and a need for action dictate tyhe tempo for most "runners." Keeping the scene safe is always a priority. The scene safety officer and or IC should have simply asked the firefighter to stop running. If this person refused or shot off at the mouth, than you have a need to go further in action towards their chief.
Sometimes running is needed. If it was your house on fire maybe you would feel different. By the way, I read your profile comments about the problems facing the fire service. YOU ACTUALLY SAID TOO MUCH TRAINING!!!! That is the most ignorant statement I've seen in a while. If you can't find the time to train, maybe you should stick with another job.
In Ny york stae your mutual aid is your insurance.. If you lose equipment on a scene it falls under their scene...
Thanks Brian for being there to catch that for me.....
Yea Barbara on a dead run even with the turnout gear,, Hard to tell what he did right he was flat on his face.. Lucky if this was his only one fire he ran on,because the sec time he could had hurt himself worse....But I will try to look at the bighter side next time...
I think there is a difference between running and moving with a purpose. I don't run but I move with a purpose becuase we have a job that needs to get done. Running is foolish and usually leads to recklessness.
Hi Anne,

I think you are talking about a gung ho FF. Are you? Motivation can be good and bad.
Anne I find that the green horns are usaully the runners but as they get older they settle down, we just need to keep one eye on it.
Its not worth running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Firefighters who do that have the potential to make matters worse, unless its a life or death situation then I say hurry it up a little bit, but in a case where no life is in danger just take ur time we dont need anyone hurt or killed.
I would have tripped him...lol. a quick grab does wonders
