Dale, Yes, these were all from one incident. As far as I know, it was the largest traffic accident in the history of the United States. It occurred in heavy fog in Interstate 75 at the 36 Mile Marker in Calhoun, Tennessee in December of 1990. Calhoun is in McMinn County. I was the EMS chief of McMinn County at the time. The incident involved 99 vehicles, approximately 70 patients that needed hospital care, 12 fatalities, numerous fires and entrapments, and three different hazmat releases. I was the Incident Commander.

We had over 150 mutual aid agencies from seven counties and two different states respond. Everyone that was alive when we got there survived.

The photos were taken about three or four hours into the incident after the fog lifted. I have some additional photos that are not digitized. When I get them scanned, I'll post them.
