Should volunteer fire departments do rescue?

So recently a couple fire departments decided to go rescue and do auto extrication in their district only. I seen no problem with this because the only thing it would do is step u response time to possibley fatal car wrecks. This infuriated the Rescue squad we had in town because they lost the two busiest districts in the county. This makes me mad because we should all be doing what ever we do for the same reason "to help the citizens of our communities that are in trouble" not for the glory of saying well you cant work wit out us. Just wandering what people who live else where think about this ordeal?

we do.we have several that has vehical rescue.me& 2 others are HTR techs.we help the other depts.if the co.rescue cant get thiere crash tk out.

hey i would like to add alittle to this discussion. i'm on a department in lee co. north carolina.. we still have a rescue sqaud(srt/heavy rescue), but we do most of our extrication our selves.. the only time we use srt is on a heavily mangeld vehicle were we would need alot more stabilization to the vehicle.. i personnally think we are all professionals wether we are paid or not.. so why fight over it just do it..... thanks

We had the same problem in our county several years ago, the volunteer rescue squads done everything in their power to stop our dept from doing rescue in our own fire district but of course they failed. This issue went on for a couple of years arguing back in fourth. What they didnt understand we was not trying to put them out of buisness we were just doing what we felt was nessesary for the people who lives in our district. now we run everything from MVAs to High Angle Rescue, Building Collaps down to Trench Rescue we run a heavy rescue truck that is designated just for all rescue calls and now we are running medical calls, and the rescue squads we are now getting along so it does all work out in the end I guess you just have to wait it out and continue to do what you have to do.
