Dude not to be rude to you but if you wanted to get onto my fire department and you couldn't make the meetings then you don't need to be on my dept. Im not saying that you want be a great firefighter or you might already be a firefighter but you have to make your training hours and if you dont train you or you will get some one hurt or maybe even killed so thats up to you bro. And one more thing if you cant get off work to go to meetings then how are you going to be able to active on the call side of the fire department. The FD takes up alot of time and dedicated people are the folks I want so do what you got to do but thats my opinion.

Amy I totally disagree a vol fire department is a FIRE dept and you have to train just like i told him or you or you will get someone hurt or killed. Im not being rude but i am stating the facts and I can stand behind them 100%. But i do agree you have to make money so its all on the person if they can work around the meetings but mainly the fire calls..

I agree with JoAnn and Tim in that you HAVE to make the calls(that's what probation is)and you HAVE to make the training events.If you don't make the training events you may as well not join.Trust me I am a Junior myself and My cousin and I joined at the same time and He knows nothing because he didn't attend any trainings.I do traffic control and get to run the hose while he sits on the back of the engine and drinks gatorade or sweeps the debree off the roadway while I help extrict(technically just helping hold and rip).And Amy!I agree with you totally because I missed a couple meetings myself.All meetings are,are the buisiness end of the works, not something us Juniors really NEED to know.As for how to get away with missing one, just tell your president and/or Chief that you have to work.Be there to get voted on and be there to get voted off.Training in my company is announce over the annoying magic black talking box(pager) usually the day before.If you have any questions talk to Amy...she's a big help when it comes to the FD issues.Or you can message me and I can help ya out.
