Just Out Here Saving Lives!!!!
Well I really wish I knew exactly what to put here,,,,,There is so much that I could say but we all know,,,Hippa,Hippa,Hippa,,,,,,,,,,lol... How ever there are times that I love my Job and then there are times I hate it,,,,,,

FIVE REASONS I LOVE MY JOB

1. 1.I love my job when that one individual holds my hand with tears in there eyes and they say's"thank god you were here."
2. I love my job when I see that little baby takes it first breath, and you know you just brought a little person into this world.
3. I love my job when I feel like Moses, and I drive down the street with my lights and sirens going and the cars in front of me just split right open like a wave...lol
4. I love my job when we go to the elementary schools and those little eyes, look all bright and shiny, because they love to see the trucks and lights!
5. I love my job when you show up to the elderly housing and you are just there because poor gram ma can't get up and she just needs your help!!

FIVE REASONS I HATE MY JOB

1. I hate my job when that call comes in for Billy Bob Joe decided at 3 in the morning his big toe hurts and he needs to go to the hospital.
2. I hate my job when I have to hold a persons hand and explain to them that we cannot bring there family member back.
3. I hate my job when you have to tell the parent of a child you should have been in the back seat when they got into an accident and there child went through the windshield"and let me tell you,,I would love to strangle and scream at them when this happens but instead you have to be non judgmental at this time."
4. I hate my job when I am enjoying the holidays with my family and I have to run out the door for some dip-sh---t who decided that the holidays was the time they decided that the money they got would be great to by drugs and over dose on it,,,you all know how that one feels right????
5. And last but most important,,and I am sure you all have thought of this one,,,,,When the fear inside of us all when that call comes in,and we have been told, that we are under attack with a chemical warfare and we are all being brought to the hot zone, and we all know that there are a series of shots that we can give are selfs to keep us alive long enough to help those that are injured,,,which we have all pledged to help those in need,,,but when you look back at your children and your spouse, and you know that by the time you hopefully get home they may be gone hits me right in the pit of my stomach..But I know that I have pledged and always will,,,,

Wow. I'd have to think about those for awhile! There are several of those I can identify with!
How long have you been in this crazy business?
I have been an EMT for 17 years and working for the same company for 16 1/2. The county we're in is very rural, so I can definately feel your pain on the Billy Bob's of the world! We transport idiots like that all the time!
I have been in this line of work for 6 yrs,,,I know it hasn't been a long time but I love everything I do......and like I said there are times that I love it and times I hate it............Thanks for joining I hope we can have a great friendship......Like I said this is a place to say Thanks for what you do. You do deserve a big Thanks for the number of yrs you have put in..........Pat your self on the back you deserve it.
1. I love my job when I feel like I really made a difference.
2. I love my job when that frail little hand grasp mine to say thank you even when I feel like a failure.
3. I love my job when people say Thanks for getting here so fast instead of what took you so long.
4. I love my job when a Baby takes its first breath and you think about how good God is.
5. I love my job when you start working that code and you get a pulse back and you don't have to wonder why you are there.

1. I hate my job when I arrive on scene to a Hospice pt. and the family expects you to safe them.
2. I hate my job when I arrive on a scene where someone hurt a child intentionally.
3. I hate my job when I get there and they have an arm band on cause they just left the ER.
4. I hate my job when I get to a wreck caused by a drunk driver and he's the only one not hurt.
5. I hate my job when its is a direct admit, we are busy and I am on a 911 truck.
Thanx Mary,
For sharing your likes and dislikes to the type of work we do,and how much we all feel like we have helped that child who could not help them selfs, that injured Pt who never asked for some stranger to decide a few drinks after work couldn't hurt.,and the elderly after they have been here making there family smile..........Thank You..................I respect and I am Thankful for the job you do...
5 reasons I love my job:
1. Helping those who need my help the most.
2. Breaking most of the traffic laws while responding.
3. Saving a person who has coded.
4. Having people around me who understand why I do this.
5. Having a great crew that has my back when things go south.

5 reasons why I hate my job:
1. Bystanders and rubberneckers who think that this is tonights form of entertainment.
2. Driver's who don't yield.
3. Working a code on a child and never getting them back.
4. Not having a magic wand to fix everything.
5. People using the ambulance as a taxi. (Suitcase packed and ready to go.)
Salem8,,
Very nice..Thanks for replying it is nice to see that most of us are pretty much the same...
We seem to feel the same way about most of the work we do.........I thank you for joing the group and I hope you get the chance to let off some steam when needed and to make a few friends along the way...........How many yrs have you been in this line of work?
I have been in it for 15 yrs and EMT for 14 yrs. Loving most of the minutes in the field:)
I dont know if I have that many reasons for the likes and dislikes. I've been in EMS for almost 4 years now and loving every minute of it. Things that I like about my job is knowing myself and my partner did the best we can to keep that person alive when those critical calls come cause face it not every call we get out there is critical. I like my job when I know that a certain child will get to see another day. When that little elderly lady grasps my hand with both of hers appreciating the job we did, again face it how many times have we all been thanked for our jobs we are not that well appreciated well at least where I live. I hate my job when the call comes in for a pedi in full cardiac arrest just for the fact that I love kids. I hate my job when I find a child that has been seriously abused by an adult, knowing I cant beat that person for what he did to that inocent child. I hate to see a dying child lying on the street after a major MVA or auto-ped.
Thanks Rick,
I think you have done an awesome job with coming up with likes and dislikes,You started off not know how many you could come up with and as I read through you kept coming up with more.
I read alot of how people feel and it reminds me just how much we all think alike and it reminds me of just how much we are FAMILY.........
I pat you on your back for a job well done,if it wasn't for you and others that cold hand of a child would not be warmed by our touch, or the elderly who just don't know why they feel the way they do, and we can look at them and explain to them it is ok to be scared, but we will not leave them instead we will stay with them to see them through..
Thank you again Rick for a job well done
