Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District
My Training:
Emt-Advanced,Paramedic coarse, Firefighter 1 and 2, currently working on a Degree in EMS/Fire Science at Columbus State Community College. Possible a sole Fire Science Degree as well.
I started out helping my High School athletic trainer thinking that was what I wanted to do. Talking one day she suggested that I look into being a firefighter. So I gave it some thought and took an Ems class obtaining my Basic license. After that I took my 240 hr Firefighting license. I joined one of the local volunteer departments and decided to go back to school. I'm now testing for my paramedic license and I am finishing up my Ems/Fire assosiates degree.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
It is quite possibly the most rewarding job in existence.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Obesity seems to be an epidemic that has hit the ems/fire service as well as the public. I can't encourage enough, my fellow brothers and sisters to start and maintain a workout schedule. Even if it is a couple days a week for just 20 minutes, it will greatly increase your energy. It will help prevent injuries by doing strength training, especially when focusing on the main muscles we use....the back.
