This is my grandma's recipe, she didn't measure anything when she was cooking, but the "ribble's" have started fist fights.

ingredients;
5 lbs potatos
1 stick butter
flour
milk
eggs (optional)
salt and pepper

bring water to boil in a large kettle
wash, peal and cut potatos
put into boiling water, add salt approx 3 table spoons

in a large bowl add flour, salt, peper and milk
(and 2-3 eggs for stiffer ribbles)
mix completly (should be stiff not too runny)

add stick of butter to boiling water

using two spoons, spoon the mixture using approx 1 teaspoon full
into the boiling water

bring to a full boil, reduce heat and cover,
10 minutes covered, 10 minutes uncovered

serve hot in a large soup bowl

I know it dosen't sound like much, but it is an inexpensive, fill-the-belly
meal

grandma also used to put chicken gizzards in, but I've found boneless skinless chicken thighs are great and add a little chicken flavor

enjoy
